Philips Hue Kinetic Switch Driver

Unlock the full potential of your Friends of Hue switches with the Philips Hue Kinetic Switch Driver for Control4. This driver is specifically engineered to deliver an optimum experience for Kinetic Switches, including the popular Retrotouch Friends of Hue Smart Switch, ensuring seamless integration and advanced functionality within the Control4 ecosystem.

Developed in close collaboration with Retrotouch, this driver leverages deep technical insight to provide robust support for kinetic switches, allowing users to go far beyond basic light control. Each button can be programmed for custom actions, including ramping for dimming or volume control, scene activation, and triggering automation across lighting, AV, security, and more. Real-time event feedback for press, click, and release actions ensures precise and responsive control, while intuitive button renaming and device management make setup effortless.

Whether you’re installing Retrotouch or other Friends of Hue kinetic switches, this driver delivers a premium, reliable experience—transforming simple switches into powerful smart home interfaces. Experience the difference of a driver built for kinetic technology, backed by direct manufacturer collaboration and tailored for Control4’s advanced automation capabilities.

Key Benefits:

  • Tailored for optimum performance with Retrotouch Friends of Hue Kinetic Switches
  • Advanced button event support: press, click and release
  • Customizable actions for each button, enabling rich automation
  • Effortless device and button management
  • Developed in partnership with Retrotouch for maximum compatibility and reliability

Supported Devices

  • Retrotouch Friends of Hue Smart Switch
  • other Friends of Hue Smart Switches

Events

For each button, the following events are available:

  • Button Press: Fired when a button is pressed (when ramping).
  • Button Release: Fired when a button is released (when ramping).
  • Button Click: Fired when a button is clicked (short press).

 Limitations:

  • Due to how the Hue Bridge communicates with the Buttons, an event is not sent if a button is held for an extended duration. For this reason, and to circumvent potential issues with long presses, the driver will automatically send a 'release' command if a button is held in for longer than 3.5 seconds.
