The Big Ass Fan driver integrates Big Ass Fans — including Haiku, i6, and es6 models — directly into a Control4 system over the local network. The driver communicates with the fan via IP, with no cloud dependency, and automatically discovers the fan once its network connection is bound in Composer.
Once connected, the fan becomes a fully native Control4 device: fan speed, direction, Whoosh Mode, Eco Mode, and the fan's integrated light are all controllable from Navigator, keypads, and programming. Communication is two-way, so changes made from the Big Ass Fans app or the fan itself are reflected in Control4 in real time.
Two driver variants are included to fit the project: the standard driver exposes the fan through Control4's native fan proxy, while the UI driver adds experience buttons for direct control of fan features from the Control4 interface along with a Light V2 proxy for the integrated light.
- Two-way communication: Real-time state feedback keeps Control4 in sync with the fan, whether changes come from Control4, the Big Ass Fans app, or the fan itself.
- Local IP control: Communicates directly with the fan on the local network — no cloud service required for control.
- Full fan control: Fan speeds 1–7, direction (Forward/Reverse), speed toggle, and increase/decrease speed commands.
- Whoosh and Eco Modes: Enable the natural breeze effect of Whoosh Mode or energy-efficient Eco Mode from properties, keypads, or programming.
- Auto modes: Toggle the fan's automatic fan and light operation, letting the fan adjust itself based on environmental conditions.
- Integrated light control: Dim and switch the fan's built-in light, with selectable targeting of the downlight, uplight, or both.
- Comprehensive keypad links: Dedicated bindings for speed toggle, increase/decrease speed, fan direction, brightness toggle, and brightness up/down — each with configurable single- and double-tap actions and custom LED colors for on/off states.
- Rich programming events: Fan On, Fan Off, Speed Changed, Direction Changed, and mode-change events (Whoosh, Eco, Fan Auto, Light Auto) that fire once the fan confirms the change.
- Programming commands and variables: Set Whoosh, Eco, Fan Auto, Light Auto, and Light Target from programming; FAN_SPEED, FAN_DIRECTION, and FAN_PRESET variables available for conditionals and automation.
- Device info at a glance: Fan name, model, firmware version, current speed, and sensor readings surfaced in driver properties.
